Privacy Policy
Serelle
Last updated: 21 September 2026
The short version
Serelle asks you to judge whether a man is right for you. Your answers are private notes about your own life, and they are treated that way.
- We store your email address, and the evaluations you choose to save.
- There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no profiling of any kind.
- Nothing is sold, rented or shared for marketing. Ever.
- Only you can read your evaluations. This is enforced by the database itself, not by a promise.
- You can delete your account and everything in it, from inside the app, at any time.
The rest of this document says the same thing precisely.
Who is responsible
Serelle is operated by Eyal Elbaz, Israel, who writes and practises as Ayal Elbaz. Both names refer to the same person throughout this policy.
For anything in this policy, write to privacy@serelle.org.
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, we are the controller of your personal data.
What we collect, and why
Your email address
Collected when you create an account. It is the only way we identify you, because Serelle has no usernames and no passwords – you sign in with a six-digit code sent to your address.
It is used to sign you in, and to reach you if something goes wrong with your account. It is not used for marketing, and there is no mailing list to be added to.
Your evaluations
When you evaluate a man, we store:
- the name you typed – a first name or a nickname, whatever you chose
- your answers – 26 pointers, three questions each
- the result – the total and the band, both calculated from your answers
- when you started, finished, or revised it
This is the whole product. Without it there is nothing to show you when you come back.
A note about the man. He is a real person who has not agreed to any of this. Serelle asks only for a first name or a nickname for that reason, and we would rather you used a nickname than a full name. Please do not enter his surname, address, workplace, phone number or anything else that identifies him. Nothing in Serelle needs it, and your answers are a record of your private impressions rather than a file on another person.
What you own
Which plan you are on, where it came from, and when it renews. Written only by our payment provider – the app itself cannot grant you anything, by design.
One setting
Whether you have seen the welcome screen, so you are not shown it twice.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers. No location. No contacts. No photographs. No device fingerprint. No behavioural analytics. No crash reporting. No third-party trackers of any kind – there are none in the app, and you are welcome to check, because there is nothing in the code that talks to anyone but our own database.
Where it is kept
On our database, hosted by Supabase, in the United States (us-east-1).
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this means your data is transferred outside it. That transfer relies on the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, which are incorporated into Supabase's Data Processing Addendum and apply automatically wherever the GDPR applies to us. Supabase acts as our processor, is prohibited from selling your data or using it for its own purposes, and may only handle it on our instructions.
Some of it is also on your phone, so the app works without a signal: the evaluation you are part-way through, the books you have access to, and your sign-in token. All of it stays on the device and goes no further. The books are removed from the device when you sign out.
Who else sees it
Nobody, except the companies that make the app work:
| Who | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | The database, and sign-in | United States |
| Resend | Sending your sign-in code | United States |
| Apple / Google | Payments, if you buy a plan | Per their own policies |
| RevenueCat | Confirming what you bought | United States |
We never see your card. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google, and all we are told is which plan you are entitled to.
Beyond these, your data is disclosed only if the law requires it – a court order or an equivalent legal obligation. If that ever happens and we are permitted to tell you, we will.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone's marketing, including our own.
Who can read your evaluations
Only you.
This is worth being precise about, because it is not merely a policy. Every row in our database carries the account it belongs to, and the database refuses to return a row to anyone else. It is enforced in PostgreSQL, below the application, so a mistake in the app cannot expose your evaluations to another user.
Ayal Elbaz, as the operator, has administrative access to the database and could technically read it. He does not, and will not, except where strictly necessary to fix a fault you have reported. We tell you this because a policy that implied otherwise would be false.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it.
- Delete one evaluation – his name, your answers and his result are erased. What remains is an empty record holding one thing: the date that evaluation was finished. It has to remain, because your allowance is counted from it – deleting an evaluation does not open a new one, and the app says so before you confirm.
- Delete your account – your email address, your evaluations, your plan record and your settings are all permanently erased, the empty records above included. This cannot be undone.
Deletion is immediate. Our database is backed up daily and each backup is kept for seven days, so a deleted evaluation can persist in a backup for up to a week before ageing out. Backups exist to restore the service after a failure, and are never used to look anything up.
One exception: records of purchases may be retained where tax or accounting law requires it. Those records concern the transaction, not your evaluations.
If you replaced an evaluation on the Free plan, it is kept rather than deleted, and comes back if you subscribe. That is a feature, and it is described in the app – but it means a replaced evaluation is still on your account until you delete it or your account.
Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, delete it, take it elsewhere, and object to how we use it.
Most of these you can exercise yourself, in the app, immediately. For anything else, write to privacy@serelle.org and we will answer within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you may complain to your data protection authority. In Israel, to the Privacy Protection Authority. We would rather you told us first.
Our legal basis for processing, where the GDPR applies: performing our contract with you (storing your evaluations is the service you asked for), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. We do not rely on consent, so there is nothing to withdraw – you delete your account instead.
Children
Serelle is for people aged 16 and over. It is not intended for anyone younger, we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16, and the subject matter is not written for them. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Everything travels encrypted. Your evaluations are readable only by your account, enforced by the database. There are no passwords to steal, because Serelle does not use them.
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
